The Role
Join us as a Health, Safety & Wellness Partner and play a key part in shaping a safer, healthier and more connected workplace across the Town of Port Hedland. In this permanent, full-time role, you’ll work alongside passionate leaders and teams - both indoors and out - to build a strong, proactive safety culture for our people and community.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Partner with leaders, employees, contractors and volunteers to lift safety awareness and foster a wellbeing first culture. - Provide up to date WHS advice, coaching and support aligned with relevant WHS legislation. - Champion health, safety and wellness initiatives that keep our workforce safe and thriving. - Support the implementation, compliance and continuous improvement of the Town’s Safety Management System.
- Facilitate and participate in health and safety meetings across the organisation. - Conduct regular onsite safety inspections, audits and incident investigations.
- Manage key safety administration tasks, including workers’ compensation and injury management processes.
- Play an active role in driving hazard prevention and embedding safer ways of working.
What We’re Looking For
- A qualified WHS professional with a tertiary qualification in Work Health & Safety (or a related field), or equivalent practical experience in a similar role - Strong knowledge and practical experience with WHS systems, workers compensation, injury management legislation and return to work programs - Demonstrated experience delivering WHS projects, audits, inspections and continuous improvement initiatives - The ability to develop and deliver WHS training and work collaboratively with employees and key stakeholders - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, research capability and computer literacy
Work Related Requirements
The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:
- Tertiary qualification in Work, Health & Safety (Certificate IV or higher)
- Level of mobility must allow for employees to comply with Emergency Evacuation Procedures
- Workplace First Aid
- National Police Clearance
- Current ‘C’ class drivers license
- Rights to work in Australia
