Mentorship program for medium and small businesses
Are you a certified OHS professional who is interested in providing assistance to others who:
• Are predominantly in management roles and have responsibility for OHS in a small or medium-sized organisation (20 – 300 staff)?
• Juggle OHS responsibilities on top of their other non OHS responsibilities.
WorkSafe has partnered with Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) to establish a mentoring program and are seeking SIA Members to participate.
Participants must commit to two sessions (afternoon or evening), in addition to regular contact with their mentor or mentee. Management support is essential as the managers of each mentee will be asked to complete a short survey before and after the program. This will be aimed at measuring mentee improvement in role effectiveness which may be attributed to involvement in the program and its associated activities.
The program runs for six months commencing October 2011 and limited spaces are open for ‘Jugglers’ to be mentored and OHS Professionals to mentor.
The program is an excellent development opportunity for experienced OHS Professionals to put into practice their interpersonal and management skills, share knowledge and experience, and reflect on their own work practices as they mentor less experienced people, who may or may not have OHS skills, qualification or experience, but have OHS responsibilities.
Continuing SIA Professional Development (CPD) credits will be offered for SIA members who participate either as a mentor or mentee.
