WorkCover Queensland recently released mental injury treatment guidelines to assist with best practice claims management and promote positive outcomes for Queensland workers.

WorkCover Queensland said the guidelines will support people and providers to facilitate the treatment of mental injury claims within the workers’ compensation setting and support improved outcomes for workers recovering from a mental injury.

Created in consultation with psychiatrists and psychologists, WorkCover Queensland gathered insights, data and information including:

  • compilation of evidence-based research;
  • research into current best practice; and
  • consultation with stakeholders including RANCZP and APS member survey.

WorkCover Queensland said this process helped inform the new guidelines which set out the approach to approved and non-approved treatments, including medications and inpatient private hospital admissions that support recovery and return to work.
