WorkCover NSW – Safety alerts

Following a number of incidents, WorkCover NSW has released two safety alerts. One is in relation to the potential for entanglement when using machinery with rotating components. Incidents have occurred resulting to serious injuries when using ‘bench drills, lathes, paint mixing machines and stump grinders.’ The safety alert relating to entanglement in maching with rotating components can be found at: http://www.workcover.nsw.gov.au/formspublications/publications/Pages/entaglementrotatingmachinessafetyalert.aspx

WorkCover NSW have also released a safety alert relating to operating mobile plant near overhead powerlines. WorkCover report that there have been 55 incidents since July 2011 where cranes, machinery or other mobile plant have come into contact with powerlines.
