SIA Ethics & Complaints Procedure news release

The new Safety Institute of Australia Ethics & Complaints Procedure has been discussed and ratified during a planning meeting conducted at the SIA National Office on 17th January, 2009.  The meeting was attended by Barry Silburn (SIA National President), Jim Toshach (SIA National Vice President), Dr Geoff Dell (SIA Dean College of Fellows), Dr George Rechnitzer (Chair SIA National Technical Panel), Gary Lawson-Smith (CEO, Safety Institute of Australia Ltd) and.Ross Armstrong (Adjunct Associate Professor, Centre for Ergonomics and Human Factors, LaTrobe University).

The new procedure formalises the processes for handling of ethics issues and complaints previously approved by the National Board and that the Institute has been using for several years under its pre-existing Code of Conduct.
 
The new Complaints Procedure has been developed with the professional assistance of Ross Armstrong, WorkSafe Victoria, Melbourne University and some 200 plus SIA members during the four HaSPA Engagement Sessions kindly hosted by WorkSafe Victoria during 2008.
