As many of you will be aware, WorkSafe Victoria is currently funding a major project to develop and implement the Body of Knowledge for the Generalist OHS Professional.  This project has two key stages:

(i) To develop the Body of Knowledge for the OHS Professional; and

(ii) To implement the Body of Knowledge.

The Technical Panel for this project has been working on Stage 1, in consultation with Universities around Australia, and representatives from the SIA Ltd College of Fellows. To date, a conceptual framework for the Body of Knowledge has been developed.

We now need and invite your input.

To help us, the Health and Safety Professional Alliance (HaSPA) Technical Panel and the SIA Ltd invite Generalist OHS Professionals to participate in a series of engagement sessions.

Each session will be 3 hours duration, be limited to about 60 places to facilitate presentations on the project and interactive working group sessions aimed at encouraging input from those in attendance. Alternative means of obtaining input from SIA members unable to attend a session is also under consideration by the Project Technical Panel.

Please note, the attached pre-reading. All participants will be expected to read this prior to attending.

Invitations to attend these sessions are also being extended to other professional associations represented on HaSPA, such as the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists Inc (AIOH) and the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia Inc (HFESA).

We thank you in anticipation for your attendance and input, and look forward to seeing you at one of the forums. Don't delay in registering and if you need any assistance please contact the SIA National Office on T: (03) 8336 1995 or E: natadmin@sia.org.au .
