MEDIA RELEASE: AIHS Board Chair Naomi Kemp appointed to board of WHSQ

We are pleased to announce that AIHS nominee and Board Chair, Ms Naomi Kemp has been appointed to the Board of Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) by the Honourable Grace Grace MP, State Minister for Education and Minister for Industrial Relations.
Immediate past AIHS Chair Patrick Murphy has sat on the Board for the past three years and made a significant contribution to its work. In completing his time on the Board, Patrick said “the WHSQ Board role represents an important ongoing opportunity for the profession to engage in, and support good health and safety regulatory policy and practice in Queensland. It’s great to see the Institute continuing to be represented and I wish Naomi all the best in taking on the role.”
Taking up the role and thanking the Minister for the opportunity Ms Kemp, said “it’s an honour and significant responsibility to represent the Institute and the health and safety profession, and to serve the people of Queensland by doing my best to contribute to the good governance of WHSQ.”
AIHS CEO David Clarke, discussing the increasing policy and advocacy role the Institute is taking on in relation to legislation regulation and standards, said "the profession has a unique voice, and we are using that voice alongside unions and employer groups to promote evidence-based decision making, to ensure that health and safety policy drives good outcomes in the real world, in the workplace.”
