Machines can help improve production efficiency in the workplace. However, their moving parts, sharp edges, and hot surfaces are often the cause of serious workplace injuries such as crushed fingers or hands, amputations, burns, blindness or even death. Safeguards are essential to keep workers out of harm’s way, but what requirements apply when designing safeguards?

During this presentation we will look at the different types of safeguards that can be utilised as part of safeguarding solutions for machinery.

Your Presenters 

The presenters have a combined experience of over 30 years in the fields of machinery safety and industrial automation. Working within Pilz’s services team, they have gained a real insight into the application of the safety of machinery AS/NZS 4024 family of standards. They are experienced in providing risk assessments on machinery and training on WH&S legislation and standards.

Craig Imrie, Senior Safety Consultant

B.Eng (Mechatronics), Certified Machinery Safety Expert CMSE® (TÜV Nord)

Craig has over 15 years’ experience in the machine safety industry performing various roles in technical support, business development, product management and safety consulting. Craig has been a Functional Safety Engineer for ten years and is a certified CSME®. Craig has been a member of the Australian Standards Committee for machine safety, committee SF-041, for ten years and is currently representing Austmine.

 

Adam Hallinan, Training Manager, Pilz 
B. Eng, Certified Machinery Safety Expert CMSE® (TÜV Nord)

Adam’s experience includes providing advice and solutions to a variety of manufacturing and process industries. Amongst them are food & beverage, packaging, steel, pulp & paper and burner management. As Training Manager, he is responsible for the internal and external training elements of Pilz’s products and software range.
