The WA Branch invites you to join us for the September Perth Safety Sundowner.

You can expect a great view, great refreshments and great conversations with safety professionals and others who are 'safety adjacent’.

Our theme for the evening will be focusing on the approaches to address the complex Work, Health and Safety (WHD) challenges within the mining sector through the Mental Awareness, Respect and Safety (MARS) Centre.

Mental Awareness, Respect and Safety (MARS) Centre

The MARS Centre is an Edith Cowan University (ECU) industry collaboration centre for the mining sector that helps improve safety and wellbeing through research and education to:

  • Create mentally healthy workplaces
  • Build a culture of safety and respect
  • Prepare for workplace safety in future mining

SPEAKER

Dr Marcus Cattani – Deputy Director of MARS Centre, Industry engagement & Mining WHS

Dr Marcus Cattani is a Senior Lecturer and Post Graduate Course Co-ordinator in Occupational Health and Safety within the School of Medical and Health Sciences.

Marcus has worked as an academic, occupational hygienist, HSE Manager and consultant in the chemical, manufacturing, engineering and resources industries for over 30 years.  Marcus is passionate about improving the management of injury risk to an acceptable level, and assisting organisations develop the risk management partnerships required to achieve this.  His research focusses on the development of educational materials to assist organisations understand and manage risk, and the development of processes to measure risk.  Marcus sits on several Committees supporting work health and safety practice through industry collaboration and research.
