The Dandenong Safety Discussion Group will hold its first breakfast meeting in Dandenong South on Tuesday 2 August 2022
It is an in person meeting where each month we consider new legal developments with a practical focus on the (i) Occupational Health and Safety Act, (ii) workers compensation and (iii) environmental law. We will also look at broader policy issues, for example the new Commonwealth government’s approach to safety, and what the parties promise on the safety front in this State’s election later this year. We will invite speakers in the coming months from regulators, government departments, and subject matter experts.
This is an informal discussion each month on at least three topical legal themes. Suggestions for future topics warmly welcomed.
The topics for our inaugural August breakfast this month are:
WorkSafe prosecutions in Dandenong and Frankston Magistrates Courts. What are the lessons?
The High Court decision this year in Kozarov v State of Victoria: How a prosecutor brought a mental health claim and succeeded in obtaining compensation for highly stressful work. Does your workplace undertake emotionally distressing work? Dealing with the public? Long hours?
What the ‘E’ means in OHSE for safety professionals? Who assesses what goes into the land, water and air in your business?
Hosted by Rob Jackson,AIHS Vic Committee Member and Partner, Rigby Cooke Lawyers
